The Sierra Nevada (Sierra, High Sierra, Sierras) is a mountain range located in the United States in the state of California. The Sierras stretch 650 kilometers (400 miles).
There are several notable locations for climbers in the Sierra Nevada including:
- Mount Whitney is the highest point in the contiguous United States at an elevation of 4,421 meters (14,505 feet).
- Yosemite National Park which is known as a world class climbing destination because of its granite domes like Half Dome, and El Capitan.
