The Himalaya Range (Himalayas) is a mountain range in Asia. The Himalaya Range separates the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau. The mountain system includes many mountain ranges including the Hindu Kush, and several minor ranges extending from the Pamir Knot. The Karakoram range is often considered together with the Himalaya range, but it is technically not part of that range.
The 14 highest mountains in the world are in the Himalaya Mountain Range. The main ones are the Mount Everest, K2 and Nanga Parbat. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth. Mount Everest is 8,848 meters.
The Himalayas and Karakoram ranges are much higher than any other mountain system on the planet. Together they have over 100 mountains exceeding 7,200 meters. The highest mountain outside of this region is Aconcagua, in the Andes, at 6,962 meters.
