The Balkan Mountains extend from Yugoslavia across Bulgaria. Additional ranges run through Albania, Greece and Macedonia.

The most famous mountain in the Balkans is Mount Olympus, which is the highest peak in Greece. Mount Olympus was declared the first national park in Greece in 1939. The elevation of Mount Olympus is 2,918m (9,568 feet).
