The Alaska Range are Mountains of South-central Alaska that extend 650 kilometers (400 miles) from the Alaska Peninsula to the border of the Yukon Territory, Canada.
The highest point in North America, Mt. McKinley, 6,194 m (20,320 feet) is located in the Alaska Range.
The harsh weather and heavy snowfall that the range receives contribute to the large glaciers that can be found in the area, including, Canwell, Castner, Black Rapids, Susitna, Yanert, Muldrow, Eldridge, Ruth, Tokositna, and Kahiltna Glaciers.
Portions of the range are protected by Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, Denali National Park and Preserve and Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.>/p>
