Haven't had a chance to wear them yet. It's still summer. They fit true to size according to Italian metric not German. I wear a 7.5 hiking boot, the 39 fit perfect.

Great mountaineering boots

I wanted a mountaineering boot that was versatile enough to climb vertical ice in but still comfortable enough to not suffer on long, challenging approaches or climbing 14-ers in summer OR winter. So, you're going to have to sacrifice some stiffness for comfort and dexterity in the ankle of this boot compared to hardshell boots. My first ice climb in these boots involved a 1.5 hour hour approach up a snowy boulder field, followed by a 3-pitch climb that lasted several hours (3 of us climbing on a single rope), followed by a strenous downclimb after topping out and walking off at the top of the ice falls. My feet, which are always cold, stayed warm and comfortable. No hotspots or pressure points. I normally wear a women's size 8, and ended up with a size 40 in these boots because I wanted room for my orthotics. I have also used them for hiking 14-ers in the summer, and my feet were so well supported that there was never any fatigue or stone bruises that you get from lighter boots with "squishy" soles. Scrambling over boulders and loose rocks at the summit in these boots was great because the Vibram soles and the stiffness make the boots rock solid and you know your foot isn't going anywhere. Very happy with the boots--I have a pair of Scarpa AT ski boots too, so I'm a huge fan of their products. Those Italians know how to make footwear. Gift:NoSizing:Feels true to size

I bought these boots for a climb up Rainier. I couldn't beat the price, but I know I will come home with blisters. They are very sloppy - the suggestion to size up seems inaccurate to me - I had to send them back for my true size. The heel cup just does not hug my feet, and with any front-pointing, my heels rub up and down. I have tried extra insoles, and my fingers are rubbed raw from tying them as tight as possible. We'll see if the discomfort was worth the price!

Solid Boots

Tried on in the house. Fits really well. Using it for Rainier this summer.

These were comfortable from the first wearing. Did a 10 mi. hike in them with next to no break in time. Half of the hike was in snow...comfy and warm. I plan to wear them up Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier in the coming months.

Very nice boots. Used these recently in a winter climb in New Hampshire up Mt. Adams. Perfect combination of insulation vs. weight. Feet were fine in temps of zero with wind. Great with crampons and snowshoes. Would highly recommend.

wonderful boots

I bought these boots primarily for ice climbing followed by mixed climbing and a little mountaineering. I live in Boulder, CO and wasn't expecting these boots to be as warm as a double boot and in 15ºF (-9ºC) temperatures my toes did get cold, especially while belaying. My second climbing stint 4 days later I wore toe warmers and that was great. Based on another review, I did buy half a size bigger and they fit perfect with one pair thick ski socks. (Thanks for that review!) I wore them straight out of the box for 7 hours climbing WI3+ with no blisters or pain. I think the reviewer who did get blisters had too smaller boot. I use these boots with Black Diamond 'Cyborg', clip-in crampons and they work great together. Overall very happy with these boots and price! In regard to the laces...definitely need to 'cross' them over between putting them through the upper side lace holders and double tie them otherwise they loosen which doesn't feel good halfway up a climb!

Used to summit Borah peak Idaho. Got some major blisters on that trip. I am still breaking them in.

I already bought my pair and after my boots seriousely outperformed hers she decided to give them a try. They are mountaineering boots, extremely stiff, super dry and little heavy, so if you are into not serious business they are not for you. But for who's looking to take on the mountains and glaciers there is no better choice. I put mines in a lake for good seconds and water didn't even stick to them!
