I've owned these for a few months but worn them rarely. a few rock climbing outings was fine then wore them on the bigwall. after 2 pitches of aid, the soles started pealing away at the toe. these things look like they'd be good wall shoes and/or rockclimbing approach shoes...but mine fell apart at the sole. ymmv?

Right from the box this piece of footwear performed wonderfully. The sizing was spot on and the day I received them I went on a long walk with some very steep inclines (paved roads and trails). I have never owned an approach shoe before but I can guess it should perform like the Quest. The sole of the shoe provides amazing traction. I was able to safely descend steep hills full of loose stone and dirt without slipping one bit. At the end of the day my feet felt great, no blisters or hot spots. The style is great, there is no break in time, and they provide stability and comfort that I have yet to find in another shoe. Well worth the price.

Of course, Scarpa made this shoe with high quality stuff. Sole is really tacky! Shoe looks killer! Insole is permeated. The tongue is generously soft but no bulk. I was getting this or the Five Ten Guide and IĆ¢??m happy with my choice. Sizing is the same as Five Ten, I have their free ride bike and climbing shoes. Bonus, the heel has a rubber surface for heel hooks. The black along the sides is actually a non-tacky rubber, lots of support laterally especially if you tend to walk on the inside or outside of center. I work in physical therapy and I can say that this shoe promotes good posturing and good stability in challenging situations.

All-arounder.

So far these babies are perfect for anything from casual daily wear to short hikes to vertical ascents. I haven't run them yet on anything more than a double digit hike, yet...but speaking of 'running', I have actually run in them and they seem well suited for street or trail--if not a bit heavy.

The only thing so far that blind-sided me was the slickness if these things when wet. Continue with caution once you get them in water. I found this out at the bottom of a cave in the Ozarks...

In all honesty, I am thinking of grabbing a few more pairs of these so when Scarpa stops making them, I'll be set for a little while. I definitely recommend them for versatility and overall quality. Not only would I recommend these to a friend, but I'd even recommend them to a perfect stranger.
