Great Harness
Big Willie at Rock/Creek Outfitters on 03/03/2010 Rated: Super comfortable and very supportive. Works great for mountaineering as well as it has a huge size range to accommodate layers. Great gear loops as well.
Great Harness, Strange Sizing
Apex Climber at Campsaver.com on 10/12/2009 Rated: Really wanted to love this harness, but sizing was a real pain for me. I'm 5'9" 155lb with a 33" waist. Size 1 was almost maxed in length around the waist and the leg loops were maxed as well, where size 2 was absolutely huge in both areas. The waist straps went all the way behind my back. Had to send it back. Also wasn't a fan of the gear loops, so small in the sides and really far in the back. Not so great for sport climbing, wouldn't be bad for a long haul though. Really wanted this for the comfort. Went with the Black Diamond SA Focus instead.
Great Harness
The Unlucky Irishman at Rock/Creek Outfitters on 03/03/2009 Rated: I purchased this harness last year on a promo to replace my then aging Misty Cadillac, and have been pretty satisfied with its performance. Like the Cadillac, the Corax has dual waist buckles which give the harness more versatility to accommodate what I'm wearing...I like the fact that I do not have to skin down to my skivvy's in the wintertime so my harness will fit. The harness also provides a comfortable ride, meaning you can play hang dog all day and not worry about chafing. The only downside is weight, but it's not a tremendous downer since it's intended purpose is to be a comfortable all rounder. If you're looking for some safety floss to work out of as you're sending your new project, check out Petzl's Sama
i would buy this again
birdman at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 02/02/2009 Rated: this harness is one of the best i have ever used very comfy and is perfect for long outings climbs
Saftey First
fisher at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 02/02/2009 Rated: I bought the Corax as a mid-priced, mixed-use and safe harness. Black Diamond is a trusted name off the bat to me, so right there, I cant go wrong. Theres not much to it, its a harness. However, its does have several key functional/saftey features including a separate/color-coded belay loop, side clips for screws and hardware, and my favorite feature as a safety-first oriented guy; The harness webbing is self-redundant in that it comes with closed loops-The harness is adjustable around the waist and legs of course, but the Corax has eliminated the need for the doubling back of your webbing loops as the loops sort of double back on themselfs by design, and can not be removed from /pass thru the metal flange clips. A double backed stitching of the webbing prohibits it from slipping thru, so should you be logy and forget to double check your saftey points, you can rest somewhat assured your still in fairly safe hands....as well, shoudl you take a fall, you can not have to wonder on the way down how well you doubled back your webbing.
The only probelm with this may come if you forget to put the harness on before your climbing boots in winter. It may be tough to pass the boots through the leg webbing as it only opens so far. However, theres ample leg room to accomodate a pair of insulated pants for wintering climbing.
Its a great all around, affordable, reputable, mixed use harness with no frills and good features.
I love it.
Great Fit, Not a Trad harnesss... For Me
brownie at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 01/01/2009 Rated: I really liked the easy buckle system and the comfy fit. Unfortunately the rear gear loops are so far back racking gear for trad is difficult. It would be a great gym or sport harness where you don't need to rack gear or only have to have draws racked
Great Harness
Tyler at Campsaver.com on 10/07/2008 Rated: I have been extremely satisfied with the Petzl Corax harness. It is fully adjustable and very comfortable. It is not really bulky but there are definitely lighter harnesses out there but the Corax seems very durable and trustworthy. The adjustable leg loops and hipbelt are very easy to use and the wide straps make is comfortable for your legs and hips. I do a lot of sport climbing and it has proven to be a great harness for my uses.
Wear only Petzl Harnesses
a climber at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 01/01/2008 Rated: entirely comfortable to hang in/Hold your hanging climber, when belaying. Zero restriction, an unnoticeable piece of gear while climbing. Buckle system couldn't be easier to adjust. It is now winter, so I haven't had a chance to climb outdoors with the harness. I don't know how the gear loops will function yet, not worried though. Only complaint; My brother and I bought the harness at the same time and he has had minor discomfort with the center of the harness rubbing against his stomach. I don't climb shirtless, so have no issues. Overview: Wildly comfortable piece of gear. I will never even consider purchasing a harness from another company. My previous Black diamond pales horribly in comparison.
I would buy this again NO ?s asked.
Charlie at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 10/10/2007 Rated: Excellent choice. Great price. Great advice from [...]. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!
Snug Fitting Harness
Joe at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 07/07/2007 Rated: My new harness fits well and gives me good service. My only disappointment is, it does not have a belay loop on the back so I may use it as an anchor when I belay.
wonderfully adjustable
Jack of all sports, master of none at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 05/05/2007 Rated: Fit is very comfortable. If your any less than a 34 waist get size #1. I like the no double back buckles on the waist belt. Very good adjustability to fit. Going to use it to climb Mt baker this summer and then for ice climbing this winter in NH. non rigid gear loops are perfect for mountaineering and don't seem to get in the way of a summit pack. Hard to go wrong with Petzel gear.
