Great Accessory for ANY outdoor enthusia

I am definitely not a climber by any means...but you must read on!I picked this item up about a year ago[...] little did I know that i was getting the best accessory that I have ever owned.I am an avid hiker and hike in any weather, being low on cash I never have expensive, or even the correct gear to be outside, but this little gem is a life saver (although it is not to be used for actual life saving activities). I used to attach a standard cheap carabiner to my bag to haul extra stuff with me but they always swayed and shifted causing many problems. The Caritool locks into place on about any strap (or cloth belt) and stays put! My dogs food bowl is right where I want it, my additional water bottles stay in the center and don't throw my pack off balance. Whatever I hang from my bag stays right where I want it.It really is a product that can be used for any outdoor activity.

an excellent addition to any harness

I originally purchased the caritool only because my harness (Petzl Adjama) had spaces on it specifically made for them. I didnt think much of them or that I would use them as much as I do. The design of the Caritool is such that when installed onto a harness, it is always in a position perpendicular to the body. this makes it incredibly useful for racking gear during a multi pitch climb, or even at the summit when u need a quick place to hole a bight of rope, an extra carabiner, or a belay device in between climbs. Even more so than the gear loops found on every harness on the market, using the caritool is even easier. just press any carabiner, nut, bolt, or cam against the gate, and its clipped on in an instant. Since installing 2 Caritools on my harness, I barely use the built in gear loops. racking gear is just plain faster & easier with the Caritool. I know it may seem like a pointless accessory, at least thats what I thought at 1st. but after using them for even just a single day, pardon the pun, but I am hooked.

Great for carrying ice screws and axes

Attaches to a petzl harness (one on each side, between the the normal two gear loops) to hold ice screws and axes. Not sure if it works with other branded harnesses.

It's a bit tricky to slip into the harness (the fit is tight), but I guess it's not something you take on and off every time you climb.

It's the perfect berth for ice axes and screws for the winter. Very easy and convenient to put gear in (the gate faces away from you, just push and the gear falls into the hook).

Excellent for that way-ward chalk bag!

I use this non-locking carabiner for the simple task of keeping my gear in one place, and it does an admirable job of this. My chalk bag uses a cord to attach to my harness, and I have had trouble with entanglement, but this carabiner solved that problem for me. You will notice that the inside of the carabiner has a grooved clip, and that clip is just the right size to grab ahold of any excess cords you might have. It is easy to open and easy to latch onto your ice picks' handle-straps too. :)
