Can't decide which boots are right for the trip? Stop wondering and start hiking with the Kayland Zephyr Lightweight Hiking Boots - Men's, winner of the 2009 Backpacker Editors' Choice Award. This supportive, grippy, stable, light-weight, waterproof, and durable boot will blow you away. Designed for easy trekking and mountain walks, the Zephyr is lightweight and moves safely over any terrain.

Features:

  • Abrasion resistant toe and heel rand for added protection
  • Active Last. Kayland® believes the fit of a shoe begins with the form and design of the last. Kayland® lasts are a replica of the human foot, around which the upper is stretched to give the boot its internal shape. For nearly 40 years, Kayland® has taken feedback from male and female athletes and mountaineers to develop a range of lasts to ensure an optimal combination of fit and performance
  • Cocana™ Natural Technology™ is an activated carbon derived from coconut shells. This material is superior to other materials because of its extreme hardness and extensive and uniform pore structure. No other activated carbon absorbs moisture better. Activated carbon made from coconut shells undergoes Cocona's patented process and is then extruded into man-made fiber. Kayland® chooses coconut activated carbon because it is a recycled, sustainable material. Cocana™ Natural Technology™ provides uv protection, evaporative cooling and comfort, while being odor resistant
  • Light insole and V-K midsole provide cushion and long-wear comfort
  • Lightweight and durable Vibram® Mars outsole provides comfort and shock absorption
  • Material: Breathable abrasion resistant textile upper with injected cage outer frame
  • Weight: 24.00 oz.
  • eVENT® Cocona lining for moisture-wicking and breathability
  • eVent® fabrics consist of a patented waterproof membrane that also protects you from wind. Its unique composition allows millions of tiny pores to breathe at their full potential. Sweat vents directly to the outside of the fabric in one easy step. The patented fabric keeps water out without blocking those millions of tiny pores that let the sweat out

Snug Boot, slight discomfort

When I first tried these boots on I liked that they fit like a glove. Very snug (=less foot movement and less blisters) but not tight enough to hurt. However, after tromping around in them for a few minutes, a sore spot quickly developed on the outside of my feet, on the ball of the foot. I looked at the sole (both in and out) and noticed there was very little there between my foot and the ground. 3 stars for good snug fit but can't give much more as I will be returning them

Great Boot----Best yet

I wore my Zephers yesterday for a mountainous 3 mile hike to take some photos. Terrain was semi-rough and a bit steep at times. I couldn't have been more pleased with my Zephers. I am a big guy (300 lbs) and the boots provided great support but were still comfortable. I was so impressed that when I got home I ordered a pair for my 27 year old son. Rick

Great Hiking Boot

A very light and very good backpacking boot that gives very good ankle support and fits like a glove. I have a medium width, thin foot and this boot fits great. No sliding around on the inside. This boot was recommended to me by Altrec customer service, well done.

Very good warm weather light weight boot

This boot is extremely comfortable with a softer running shoe feel. Consequently, if you have foot issues and are going to be doing serious movements you might want something stiffer. These boots will cover everything up to heavy packs over rough terrain.

perfect fitting

I am really pleased with the Zephyr. I have narrow feet and the exoskeleton really wraps around my foot very well. Also, my foot does not slide at all with the heel fitting very snug. No discomfort walking, feels great after a long hike.

Excellent Buy!!

I bought these as a gift for my father for his Birthday. He was very pleased and I was also pleased with them. He plans on hiking the Appellation Trail. But I seriously doubt he will. Maybe if they put a beer stop every mile or so. lol But these really are very nice. We wear the same size so I tried them on and now want a pair for myself! Excellent buy!!
